The US might experience a constitutional crisis called "Godel's Loophole" [View all]
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/G%C3%B6del%27s_LoopholeKurt Gödel was a brillant though excentric german mathematician. Shortly before WWII he fled Nazi-Germany for the US, where he became friends with Albert Einstein.
When emigrating to the US, he was forced to take an oath on the US Constitution. He gave it a thorough read.
Later he remarked that he had found a loophole in the structure of the US Constitution, how to legally turn it from a democracy into a dictatorship without breaking any laws. He never elaborated on the details.
