They had absolutely no hope of stopping the force that the British had mounted---
they SHOULD have all been on their way to Concord, to help hide and protect the arms stored there...

Why they weren't is somewhat of a mystery now--
except maybe responding to the impetus to try to protect their own homes and loved ones....
Almost all the militia from other towns headed to Concord...
