In reply to the discussion: Greta Thunberg after landing in Paris [View all]Violet_Crumble

Many people don't seem to be aware that Israel has been blockading Gaza for many years. And that this isn't the first time that Israel has bombed the fuck out of Gaza. It happened back around 2014.
As for Greta putting her life on the line now, yes she did. Israel has no qualms about violating international law, and has killed many foreigners in the past. This time the optics of killing people bringing a bit of humanitarian aid might have been too much. I'm glad she's safe, and the attacks on her in this thread are pretty sick.

Me too. Despite not fulfilling a relief mission, she exposed Israel and its continuing international crimes.

It might have helped if Hamas didn't START THE WAR by attacking Jewish population first

Both sides suck tremendously, to be sure. In this particular situation, Israel was the lawbreaker. nt

She wasn't disturbing the peace. She was disturbing the war crimes. The war criminals saw her as dangerous.

And to counter that chaos and destruction, we could all use a bit more bliss in the world.

Nice to see that it isn't just deranged right-wing hacks jumping on the Greta hate bandwagon

Between this protest and the protest against ICE, I'm reminded that people love to project onto anyone who takes action.

Hamas could end the bloodshed today by surrendering, and releasing the hostages/bodies it is holding.
