The sensible and proper thing to do would have been to just return him to his family with as little fanfare as possible and drop the whole thing. Buuuut NOOOOO, that would be an admission that ICE Barbie and her goons had messed up, and that wasn't on, so instead of just sending him home and going on to the next poor bastard, they had to go phony up all sorts of claims that he was the worst person who ever walked the earth - a gang member, a human trafficker, and god knows what else, to justify their initial fuckup, turning him into a human pinball while revealing what a terrible farce the whole thing is.
