You see this all the time with the Trumpers making up their own "alternative facts" to justify doing what they wanted to do anyway or dismissing anything that doesn't align with their world view and interests. And Trump himself is the embodiment of manifesting his personal goals despite all the facts, reality and potentially negative consequences.

People like Tony Robbins, etc. were really big with CEOs or aspiring CEOs in the 80s and 90s and I feel like they brainwashed a certain segment of right-leaning conservatives who are educated and generally smart enough to know better into switching off their critical thinking skills and accepting someone like Trump who presents a "vision" they can get on board with even if he is accomplishing it in an amoral way. They can choose just not to acknowledge the reality of what they're supporting and focus on the positives instead.
