3. I believe the billionaires and politicians know how bad it is going to be.

They refuse to pay for expensive prevention and damage repair.
It will all fall on regular citizens.

And it is one reason the politicians and billionaires are grabbing as much
resources, gold, cash as possible right now. They want to steal it all before the shit hits the fan.

They think they can buy expensive hidey holes or even go off planet and trash a new planet for personal gain.
