6. I don't "do" central A/C. I have a room portable that i keep at 79 and two strategic fans

that circulate it quite well--even my dog can get comfortable then. If it is 79 or below outdoors (usually very late in the evening) then I open the window. (Those of you in humid areas might find that too hot, but it is semi-arid here in Colorado. If I were living in the humid South, I can assure you that I would have to have it lower than 78-79°F. I keep one insulated blackout curtain on the west-facing window, but just a blind and sheer on the smaller south-east facing window (neither my dog nor I like total cave-like conditions and need a little light in the early morning and late afternoon). I find that central A/C is not only expensive, but headache and lethargy-inducing for me so that is my big issue. Until it gets above 90F, I typically will rely on an evaporative cooler (portable "swamp cooler" ) in the bedroom--along with the two fans. But, at some point it becomes too hot for that alone.

The one fan next to me is positioned so that only the corner blows on me--comfortable, but not blowing hair in my face. Sheets are bamboo/eucalyptus (tencel), and I only use white vinegar in Downey balls and wool balls in the dryer so as to keep them soft, but not overly fragranced (just a bit from the detergent residue). And I sleep in COTTON (t-shirt). I HATE non-natural (e.g., polyester) fabrics in the summertime--no matter how supposedly "wicking" they might be.

Oh, and most important--my aging girlie dog is comfortably sleeping at my feet. I know I will eventually lose her someday--that will be an excruciating adjustment. sigh...

Gee, I guess I really am picky. LOL
