1. Ground beef is between $8 and $10 a pound right now in Texas super markets.

I was shocked the other day when I went to buy a pound of ground beef for tacos. I refused to pay it. But when I saw the price of ground turkey, I refused to pay that as well. It's a good thing we eat mostly vegan food in this household. And it's a good thing I typically don't like the flavor of TVP because it's gone crazy expensive, as well. We eat lots of beans and tofu for our protein. I've learned to season and process tofu so that most folks either can't tell the difference between beef or prefer it to beef, although it's a lot of work to go through all those steps.
