18. I rub shoulders with some Trump voters, but they're not my friends.

I avoid politics in my sport, to focus on winning the game. Politics can be poison to team chemistry, but I do overhear private off the field conversions.

I don't dispute anyone's experience with the variety of racists or ignorant bigots in this country. There was no shortage of them in my Chicago neighborhood on the SW side of Chicago. One April morning when I was ten years old I came downstairs and found my Aunt Kate weeping. She had just learned MLK was murdered. She helped raise me while both my parents worked. All the adults in my family were for Civil Rights, but not so much with my peers at school. They were in a celebratory mood, their parents thrilled that We finally got him!

I don't dispute anyone's encounter with racist Trumpers, but have you engaged with every single person who voted for Trump -- or even a statistically significant sample from multiple demographics from around the country? I certainly haven't, but I do know some people who voted for Trump that are neither racist nor full of hate. This includes the sons of a first cousin who, as a young man, found religion and libertarianism. One of his sons married a Mexican American, and another a Venezuelan immigrant. They don't hate the same people Trump hates. I've known my cousin all my life, and his sons since they were born. They are not haters, however much I disagree with them.
